Do I need an account to add a recipe to someone’s project? No. If someone sends you a link to their family project, the link is the key — you can add your recipe without signing up for anything.

Is building free? Yes. Browsing, writing recipes and building a whole cookbook cost nothing. You pay only when you order a printed book. And what you make in your account is never held to a plan: you can open it, edit it, and download a copy from your settings page whenever you like, free. That download holds what is yours. A few things are not in it, and here is why. Recipes you gave to a family box belong to that household’s own export. The emails we sent you are our delivery record rather than something you wrote. Who you shared something with is a relationship record rather than content. Nobody’s dietary information is ever in anybody else’s file. And if it has to leave any photographs out for size, the list inside names every one.

Can I add a handwritten card? Yes — photograph it. The original is kept as it is. We will try to read the text for you, which is a convenience and can fail; when it does, you can type the recipe in and nothing is lost.

What if the reading gets it wrong? Every field is editable before you save. Nothing is written until you say so.

How do I collect recipes from relatives? Start a family project and share its link. Contributors add recipes without accounts; you review what arrives and decide what goes in.

How do I get a printed book? Build it, look at the preview, choose your print options, and order.

How long does printing and shipping take? We can’t give you a firm turnaround yet. The print partner isn’t finalised, and every book in this pilot is checked by hand before it is printed. The operator confirms dates on your order rather than us posting a number we cannot keep.

Who can see my recipes? Only you, unless you turn on a share link. More detail on the privacy page.

What are the rules? The terms page sets out what we expect of each other. Like the privacy page, it is a plain description rather than a contract.

Will you email me? Only about things you did — a receipt, an invitation you sent, a contributor’s submission. There is no marketing list, and anything that can be switched off carries an unsubscribe link.

Something of mine is in someone else’s cookbook. Ask for it to be removed — you do not need an account, and that page explains how a request is weighed, how long it takes, and what removal cannot undo once a book has been printed.
